ASSOCIATED STUDENT BODY
On December 7-9 the ASB talent show called Cabaret, which was organized by entertainment commissioners Christina Rackohn and Andrea Weisz, occurred. Many students participated and attended the show. ASB had an amazing silent auction; many baskets were filled with items from beauty products, teeth whitening, restaurant gift certificates, and more. We estimated 1,000 parents and students attended.
December 12-16: was Multicultural Week. Commissioner Sydney Adams organized the event which promoted multicultural awareness among students on campus. There were many performers on the stage in the quad during lunch and among them were Polynesian dancers, Salsa dancers, and Belly Dancers.. On Friday of that week, ASB held a successful multicultural banquet during lunch. Food was either made or donated by restaurants.
The sophomore’s had their class night at Baja Fresh on Wednesday, December 14. Sophomore officers Mia Renauld, Katie Hueftle, and Meredith Richman worked hard to publicize their event; many students attended.
Pep commissioners Nicole Sapiro and Bryan Weiser will have their pep rally on Friday, January 13 th. Spirit Week, which occurs January 9-13, starts on Monday with dress up days and nutrition competitions. Monday is P ajama Day, Tuesday is Tie-Dye Day, Wednesday is Winter Wonderland Day, Thursday is Treasure Island Day, and Friday students can wear their class colors for the pep rally. We are having a special appearance by Assistant Principal Mr. Scaff who will be doing a dance.

CURRICULUM
From our Assistant Principal of Curriculum, Joe Skaff
For this first message of 2006, I want to share a message of hope, encouragement, and promise. I would like to give you a special gift of caring that I have felt from parents, students and our staff since arriving at CHS some 17 weeks ago.
Whether you just visit CHS, ask about registration and admission, come to school for the first time, or need daily assistance and support, the CHS staff works at providing you with outstanding service. They "care" for you!
Our Administration, Student Services, Guidance and Counseling offices and our Support Service folks ALL make a significant impact on the quality of what makes up Calabasas High School. I am very grateful to have been accepted to serve here.
Thank you to our teaching faculty. These are the men and women who are literally changing lives on a daily basis, and have been gifted with the characteristics of a "teacher." I feel that teaching is the highest calling, and the lives that our teaching faculty reaches are lives that are touched forever! The CHS teachers envision a school where every student reaches their greatest ability and potential.
Thank you too to the moms and dads who sacrifice, help, volunteer and give hundreds of hours in "booster time" to the various activities at CHS. They raise money, support the arts, cover and provide support for athletics and affirm the teachers and administrators through countless efforts. These are the parents and volunteers that contribute back to the school what they feel we, in some way, provide to their kids, and we are grateful.
A special holiday thanks to our students. What incredible joy they bring to our lives! It is exciting to see the look in a student's eye when he or she master or understands a concept in a core academic subject or paints a picture or puts together a stained glass window. When our kids perform an act on stage or sing a song, they show up as being what I said to Mr. Jackson today as being 'really great kids!'
At any rate, this is truly a time for all of us to give something back for all we have, to forgive someone a debt, to help someone less fortunate and to just 'care.' Have a wonderful New Year. – Joe Skaff
Fashion Design - Fashion Design class is buzzing along like a good machine. The girls have learned to knit and are having such fun making scarves. Louise Milligan has been nominated for the Outstanding Student Recognition Program. She is busy designing a "line" to show to the judges. There are many talented students in this class, and several are worthy of this nomination. Joe Menichini, father of a former student, donated yards of fabric and thread for student use. The girls will be using it to create a variety of clothing. For those who like to contribute to education, we can always use fabric, thread, yarn, buttons, knitting needles, crochet hooks, and other assorted sewing equipment. - Auda Ables-Espeseth, Instructor, Fashion Design & Merchandising

COYOTE CLUB
Thanks to all of the families who joined the Coyote Club this year. So far, we have allocated over $12,000 to add bleachers to the tennis courts and to build a sidewalk and retaining wall. We recently completed our campus beautification project – a mural depicting all of the sports at Calabasas. The mural is located on the back wall of the upper snack shack (primary sports field). We are getting ready for winter sports. Thanks to the girl’s softball team and the girl’s golf team for volunteering to run the snack shack during the girl’s and boy’s home basketball games. Each team will receive a portion of the profits earned. We are still selling plaques to be placed on our Patron’s wall in the gym. If you are interested in purchasing a plaque, take an order form located on the plaque wall. We meet the last Tuesday of every Monday at 6:00 in the school library. Our next meeting will be held on January 31. Hope to see you there.
